About the Recipe
This cocktail never made it onto any of the menus I contributed to, but I still think it's a damn good riff on a Paper Plane, and it's also one of the few recipes on this website that doesn't require many specialty ingredients or preparation. Furthermore, RAM is one of the greatest albums of all time, and it easily stands up to any of the best Beatles albums. Anyway, try it out. Cheers!
Ingredients
3/4 oz. Planteray 5 year rum
3/4 oz. Laird's bottled-in-bond apple brandy
3/4 oz. Amaro Nonino
3/4 oz. Acid adjusted grapefruit juice (adjusted to lime acidity)
1/4 oz. Grenadine
3 drops peychaud's bitters
2 drops 20% saline solution
For garnish: orange peel
Preparation
Shake all ingredients with ice, then strain into a chilled coupe. Express the orange peel over drink, then place it on the rim as a garnish
For acid adjusted grapefruit juice:
To acid adjust this juice, as well as any others, I always defer to this calculator, developed by James Wu.
